Looking for a rich after dinner treat to serve your guests this holiday season? Offer up these indulgent spiked hot chocolates for something they will remember through out the coming year! Or better yet, simply set out the hot chocolate, the toppings, a choice of spirits, and let your guests assemble these Poptails for themselves!
The milk chocolate Goodpop dunked inside is an extra touch to make your drinks memorable! Not only is this decadent, but the chocolate pops melt right in and add an extra thickness to the drink’s flavor. I like these clean pops because the true taste of cocoa is spot on. Or try the cold brew flavor for a pick me up!
Ingredients For Your Boozy Hot Chocolate Poptail:
Makes 2
-
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
-
3+ tablespoons sugar (start with 3, add more to taste)
-
pinch of salt
-
2 cups whole milk
-
mini marshmallows, mini candy canes crushed on top + 1 whole for fun
-
Goodpop (milk chocolate or cold brew flavor!)
-
Choice of booze: (I used Baileys Irish cream, but Kahlua, peppermint schnapps, or bourbon would also work)
Preparation
Whisk together the cocoa, sugar, salt, and about 4 tablespoons milk in a small saucepan over medium low heat until cocoa and sugar are dissolved. Whisk in the rest of the milk and the spirit of your choice, heating over medium heat and whisking until it is hot.
Tip: If you like it frothy (yes!) blend with an immersion blender afterwards for 30 seconds.
Pour the spiked hot chocolate into your favorite mugs, and dunk in a Goodpop. Garnish with mini marshmallows, candy cane crumbles and a mini candy cane. Serve and drink immediately.
Bottoms up!
