Greige kitchen cabinets? There is something innately comforting about using greige in the kitchen.
First of all, greige is just a made up color, of course! Somewhere between the paint everything gray trend in the 2000s, and the backlash to the recent all bright white kitchen obsession, the in-between color greige trend was born. Soothing, moody at times, and sophisticated always, I am finding myself preferring taupe kitchen cabinets over the classic white.
If 2020 was a year that took everyone by surprise, 2021 is going to be an anything goes year. So yes, why not a made up color for the hottest kitchen trend!

One of the reasons greige kitchens might be trending in popularity is that greige goes beautifully with brass, with marble, with warm wood, with crisp white quartz or white walls – complimenting all the good things we are loving right now.
Greige paint is neutral, and like most neutrals it is flexible! Not cold or stark like a bad gray paint job, and not as stifling warm as beige. You could also call many of these taupe kitchen cabinets.

Benjamin Moore Strand of Pearls is a warm paint color, but still bright and clean. Almost luminescent, this is a go to paint if you’re looking to give your kitchen cabinets a switch from the typical white, but nothing over the top!
Farrow & Ball Strong White: The Lightest Greige
Via: Emily Henderson Design
Emily’s kitchen cabinets are painted Strong White, by Farrow and Ball. Strong white is a fresh, pretty greige. How great does the brass look against the soft taupey color? These greige kitchen cabinets look almost white from a distant- but next to a crisp white you see that they are an earthy greige.

Amber painted her clients’ gorgeous kitchen Dunn Edwards Shady, a warm mushroom colored grey. How stinking beautiful are these choices – and the putty colored cabinets against the Calacatta marble, the warm barstools, and the antiqued brass hardware. Yummy.

Natasha had these cabinets painted Farrow and Ball Purbeck Stone. This earthy gray beige paint shade looks so lovely with all the natural wood, and can look modern or traditional.
I noticed the designer also mixed nickel and brass together – an interesting move that looks stunning, obviously, and totally works. Don’t overthink!

Taupe Cabinets at the Stafford House, Kensington Gray the Stafford House
Image of The Stafford House
Some of these images have been seen again and again but the greige on the cabinets is just so gorgeous I couldn’t withhold them from this post. Also please note – the faucet is nickel and the hardware is an antiqued brass, and it works. I think sometimes people get caught up on details like this and need to see a visual of how it all works together.
More from the Stafford House below, these cabinets are all painted Kensington Taupe, a signature color from Stafford House. You can’t find this shade at a big box store.
