Long before I designed my own home (a white house with blue shutters) I was dreaming in blue and white. It’s a color combo that many never tire of, regardless of trends!
Blue is almost a neutral in my world. It plays well with white and black, it can lean feminine, masculine or in between. Blue and white feels fresh all the time.
For the exterior of a home, classic colors that still feel new are what many of us want. Nothing too wild, but a variation from the same old.
If you are looking for inspiration, or blue paint color ideas, this is the post to read! Below is a collection of white homes with blue shutters, curated just for you.
15 White House Blue Shutters Ideas
Sharing my own home and our white and blue exterior first.
That coastal California feel may been trending, but a white and blue exterior isn’t just for the coast. I live in the middle of North Carolina, two hours from the beach with my white and blue home!
Our siding and trim are Sherwin Williams Extra White, and the shutters and front door are Sherwin Williams Uncertain Gray.
Uncertain Gray is a foggy blue-gray- if you like it, you will want to read my post about Uncertain Gray with more photos here.
More White Houses With Blue Shutters
This Locust Valley Home is a serious dream home – look at those chimneys! I love that the paint is faded and doesn’t cover all of the brick. The soft hue of blue on those shutters is just right too. What a classic!
This photo from Southern Living magazine- the Porch Style Edition of 2020. When I flipped to this page the first time, I knew I had seen this beautiful blue and white home before… and sure enough, it is in the Internet famous home of Julia Berolzheimer.
The exterior is Benjamin Moore Simply White, and that perfect shade of blue for the front door and shutters is Benjamin Moore Blue Porcelain.
Classic White + Blue Colonials
These shutters and front door are painted Benjamin Moore Wedgewood Gray.
Talk about curb appeal. The board and batten shutters have a lovely cut out.
I don’t know the color of these shutters but it is such a pretty hue of blue.
Stately Homes With Blue
A gorgeous stately home with oodles of curb appeal. Louvered shutters are so classic, and fresh blue gray shade keeps it sophisticated to match the style of the home but still feel fresh!
A wide front porch on what appears to be a farmhouse, with baby blue working shutters that match the tongue and groove ceiling.
While the front door is painted a fun pop of Benjamin Moore Caliente, the siding is White Diamond and the shutters are Harbor Haze in a soft gloss, both by Benjamin Moore as well.
White House With Navy Shutters
A deep navy on a white brick always looks stately and sophisticated, no matter the decade. Don’t you agree?
This is the perfect combination of blue and white – but especially for a tropical location!
The blue used is Sherwin Williams Pool Blue.
What a dream. I like how the homeowner chose to keep the shutters on the side of the house, where the pool is located.
White Siding and a Blue Door
White, black and blue is a solid combo! This is an especially good idea if you are hesitant to go too blue with your shutters- ease into the look with a pop of a blue door.
Blue Louvered Shutters
This white house with blue shutters, although a total dream, would not be what it is without those louvered shutters. As they say, it’s all in the details and this was one house where no detail was overlooked. I do not know the exact paint color but what an inspiration!
