The Kitchen Reno Updates

We are moving finally past demo with our kitchen progress! Really it’s been just in the past few weeks that the kitchen started to take shape and I can see the home we envisioned.

I’ve been working with vendors named throughout – my designer Katie O’Neal of Betsy Anderson Interiors has been planning this space with me from day one. Nothing in the kitchen is sponsored or gifted.

Our cabinets (Crystal Cabinets) are up! They took a week for install. The color is a creamy off-white factory finish; bizarrely enough called Frosty White.

The photo below is the same view as above, taken last summer. The wall with the narrow doorway and square pass-through window came down and a large arch went up. Millwork is currently getting installed along the sides of that pretty arch!

The glass cabinets on either side of the breakfast table are arriving in June.

There is so much to be said for working with great local companies that are part of the local community! We worked with Kitchen and Bath Galleries out of North Hills to come up with the cabinet plan and they handle installation. They feel like family at this point! They’re a local company here in N.C. who treated our kitchen as if it was their only one – and they worked so well with my contractor.

Unlacquered brass hardware arrived from Classic Brass – we purchased from Bird Decorative Hardware in Wilmington, N.C.

As soon as I picked them up I was so glad my designer pushed me to splurge. They are heavy, and you can customize the coining or roping, etc.

Bocchi fireclay work station sink is in! This sinks comes with a colander and cutting board that sit inside and rest of the sink’s lip.

And don’t let me forget this fun little spot! Those are dog bowls for Zion, ready to be dropped in. Our cabinet installers will cut a hole and our marble fabricators will drop marble on top and behind it.

Timeline To The Finish Line

I’m hesitant to write down any timeline for fear it will all go to you-know-what, but herringbone floors are in the next few weeks, and countertops are scheduled for the first week of June.

So what’s the next project after this, or will we chill out and let life settle? Our whole family wants to get back to normal life – but we do plan to tackle the stairway renovation after the kids are back in school this fall.
