Last summer, we made our backyard feel less like a project and more like a destination. Somewhere we actually wanted to be and invite people into!
It’s still early spring I’m getting my garden ready for planting in the back of the yard. I partnered with Wayfair to give the space a little refresh!
Last summer was our first year growing some food here – cucumbers, tomatoes (when I wasn’t fighting a small battle with squirrels) and various peppers took over last summer:

My raised garden bed can actually be found on Wayfair – 8 ft. x 8 ft. cedar garden boxes with a deer fence. We attached ours directly to that fence that hides our pool equipment, and then stained it all the same color! Here’s more cedar gardens from the same company:
Tip! If you can, install irrigation inside! Easier to maintain a garden being watered on its own!
As much as I love this space during the daytime, it always looked so dark when we’re back here in the evenings, so last week I shopped on Wayfair for solar lights. I landed on these solar globe string lights. I strung them up all around the garden fence!

Instead of a dark “cage” back in the far corner, it gives us a little magic and lights up the whole area. What a transformation! The little clips on the back of the bulbs make them easy to move them around or rearrange!

Because they’re solar, no outlets needed, and they’re shatterproof!
I was excited shopping on Wayfair as I’ve been dreaming of two Adirondack chairs in the grass. The Polywood chairs come in all colors – I love the warm wood tone called “teak”. They have a classic silhouette but cleaner lines, and wide arms. We own several Polywood chairs already – incredibly durable and low-maintenance for outside.

What I love most is how our backyard is an extension of our home. Without furniture to relax in, or just an activity to work on (like a garden!) – even a large yard won’t get used and enjoyed!
Wayfair has great options for making your outdoor space a place you will naturally want to spend time in! Here are some favorites:
