I love lighting like many girls loves jewelry! This is my favorite part of planning a new design. If you find your home feels cold, unfinished or just needs some charm, an easy way to fix that is with beautiful lighting!
Lighting is where I choose to invest with intention. We dove right into these design choices and picked brass pendant lights, brass flush mount lights, brass sconce lights, large black lanterns, and more.
When we built our last home it took me a solid month to pick the lights out.
I learned two things from that experience: one being that I really love Visual Comfort – their pieces resonate with my taste and elevate a simple space. (This post isn’t sponsored… although it should be!) And 2. I enjoyed our investment in finishing details like lighting even more because I knew they were going to give the home the wow factor! For me, I had to find other places in the home to save.
We are investing in designer lighting again in this house. I think it’s so important and would prefer to save in other areas. I hope this post is helpful and inspires you to invest in beautiful lights for your home.

In a well designed home, you’ll notice several kinds of lights at varying heights and of varying finishes. A line of several lanterns is the easiest way to add beauty to a boring hallway, and lead your eye down the room. Sconces are the same: at just at the right spot in a room it can add so much interest!
And since this is Part 1, as you may have guessed we aren’t finished with the lighting for the home. Some rooms just will need to take more time to come together… and some rooms I don’t have the budget to tackle right now. Which means… loads of patience on my end, and future projects for blog readers!
