Do you know what the MOST searched for topic is on my blog? Paint colors! So today I am giving y’all a quick tour around my home, talking about which paint colors we picked out for each space. My home is basically made up of a series of grays, blues and whites.

I really, REALLY encourage you to always buy samples first and never go buy a whole gallon based off of anybody’s pretty picture on the internet. Light sources, computer screens, filters… it changes everything. Curious about how new paint will look but scared to try? Get a sample, paint a big square and just see….!

All our ceilings are Extra White (a crisp, clean white) by Sherwin Williams in flat. I like a crips white on the ceiling if the walls are clean white too!

Entry:

The small amount of drywall downstairs (in the entry and by the butler’s pantry) is Ice Cube by Sherwin Williams in a flat. It looks like a very light gray in these areas.

This picture is fairly accurate of how the Ice Cube paint looks in my entry way if you were standing here in the room. But, it looks different upstairs!

Living and Dining Rooms:

All the shiplap, board and batten and the trim work is Extra White by Sherwin Williams in oil based paint. Because it is oil based paint, it wipes down clean with a wet rag, and I could cry I love that feature so much.

Kitchen:

The kitchen island is Sherwin Williams Krypton- it might look gray in some pictures but it is a true blue with hints of gray. The white cabinets are just the white they came in from the factory- just slightly creamy. Honestly I sometimes do wish they were more of a crisp white.

Master Bedroom / Bath:

In our master bedroom the board and batten trim work is Extra White by Sherwin Williams in an oil based paint, and the drywall above is Ice Cube by Sherwin Williams in a flat. Here, with all that beautiful light pouring in, that tricky Ice Cube paint looks almost white! Our master bathroom and the upstairs hall is also Ice Cube in a flat.

Kids’ Bedrooms:

The girls shared room is Valspar Sweet Pastel in eggshell (these crazy girls definitely mark up their walls which was the only reason I didn’t do a flat), with Sherwin Williams Extra White in a flat on the top third of the wall.

And now Ice Cube is showing its’ undertones again, in Leo’s coastal room. We used SW Ice Cube on the bottom and Extra White on top, both in a flat. The Ice Cube reads very bluish gray in his north facing room!

The color is great in his room- perfect, don’t get me wrong. But almost unbelievable that it’s the same color as the walls in our master bedroom. Must be the lack of sunlight and the north facing direction, or the blues reflecting off of it…. I don’t know. This is why paint is just weird and you must sample before buying gallons of paint the will turn out to be purple or green or something else odd.

Robbie’s room is Extra White in a flat. I love this shade of white. Clean, fresh.

Our exterior is - no surprise - Sherwin Williams Extra White. The shutters are Sherwin Williams Uncertain Gray. The roof is a light silver gray. I wouldn’t have picked this light of a shingle if we had trees hanging above our house (they can stain the shingles) but since we don’t I felt confident this will look good for years to come. I LOVE it, and it actually keeps the house cooler because the color is slightly more energy efficient than say, black shingles.

And there you have it! I have considered painting a few things… the pantry door to match the island, perhaps. If that ends up happening I’m sure to be posting about it over on instagram!
