13 Pretty Rattan Daybeds & How To Style Them

Sharing is caring!

Looking for a rattan daybed? You are not alone in 2020. Rattan is trending, and I love the versatility of a daybed! I rounded up 13 rattan daybeds we fell in love with on our search for the perfect bed for our guests! From splurges to saves, you will love these options. I included 4 mood boards as well, showing various ways to style your daybed.

With all the bedrooms in our home spoken for, the only spot for our guests to stay in is our playroom. I was looking to carve out more of a guest nook rather than a guest room.

If you are short on space, daybeds are the answer! A daybed fits into little nooks. We shoved our rattan daybed into a corner – where it still looks aesthetically pleasing. You can’t do that with a regular sofa.

Rattan adds a casual look to furniture. Those two qualities are ideal for a daybed to function as both upscale and chic – yet casual and laidback.

Which Rattan Daybed Did We Choose?

Full disclosure– my first choice is number 3, the Avalon bed. That is such a beautiful bed!

But I am not sure how committed long term we are to this flex space, so it was hard to splurge.

So which rattan daybed did we choose? We picked the Honey Rattan Daybed from World Market. At $545, it fits right in with our budget for this project. World Market was also having their once a year 30% off sale, so I ended up paying around $400. Such a bargain!

It also comes with this cute printed mattress cover. You could throw this on top of your twin mattress to make an instant bohemian sofa!

Worried that this daybed will look cheap because of the price? So was I at first. The rattan looks a little washed out on World Market’s website, but it’s not like that in person.

Out of all the daybeds I looked at, this was one of the most affordable, but it really is one of the most beautiful beds. The rattan is a lovely, saturated color. When this daybed is not in use for guests, it serves a dual purpose as a chaise. It is an inviting spot to lounge or read a few books.

Where To Put Daybeds

This is our playroom where our daybed will be going. I want to provide our guests with a bed, but where to put a bed when the room is created for kids’ play? The space is almost 500 square feet with a separate staircase, and a private full bath attached.

Our guests have always slept on our big comfy sectional in this room. (Seriously – so comfortable we bought a second Crate and Barrel Sofa and I wrote all about it)- but not even the softest sofa can truly replace the comfort of a bed!) a playroom with blue wallpaper

Below is the space where our future guest room nook will be created around our new daybed.  In this corner, the IKEA Expedit and all those cute storage baskets were not necessary. We have a game closet in the playroom with shelves made just for toy storage. So we moved the Expedit out, and moved our new rattan daybed in. Making better use of our space already!

To save on shipping I picked the bed up from World Market, and my husband put it together and it took a little over an hour. Nothing too difficult.

Everyone always loves moodboards, so I made a few.

I highly recommend creating these when you are trying to envision a space. Seeing everything together really helps me narrow it down to a curated look. I can also immediately identify pieces that I thought I wanted to use in my mind, but won’t actually work once everything is in the space collected together. My best spaces all started off as moodboards!

My goal is to use our new rattan daybed to create a mostly neutral, slightly coastal, and most of all relaxing corner for our guests.

This West Elm rug came from our bedroom, so I am most likely going to reuse that up here. It’s a nice color and not scratchy because the jute is mixed with wool. Don’t you love shopping the house?

The bedding and the mattress on the other hand, is where I wanted to spend most of my budget. I will work with Serena & Lily again on this project. I want the bedding to be extra nice, since they will be used by our guests. The full length mirror is something I always appreciate having when I am away from home!

I have this trio of Juju hats above my own bed in our bedroom. Seriously- how cute is this combination? There is always the option to use slightly different color Juju hats too, for some added interest. I think this might be a great option because I will forever love Juju hats- so if/when this room gets moved around in the future I can put those JuJu hats somewhere else.

More of a monochromatic look with all the grays and whites. The warmth of the rattan helps it from falling flat. Generally speaking, I don’t love rooms that are decorated only in grays and whites-  sometimes they can go too cold for my taste. I LOVE the fluffy white rug – I have seen one at Costco of all places as well during the winter months. I will have to keep my eye open for that!

Love the pop of pink this artwork brings in. The cute sconce is a decent price and adds to the coastal feel of the room. This space could also work for a teen room- something about the art.

Going into 2020, rattan is a trend with staying power, and I love the daybed for its versatility! They are so much fun to design a room around.  They don’t take up much room, so you can get a powerful punch of style in a small space. I hope my mood boards inspired you with an idea for styling your rattan daybeds!

The Guest Nook in Our Playroom:

Picking out the right rattan daybed was fun because of all the beautiful options for sale and in a good price range. Sometimes finding new furniture can be stressful if everything is beyond expensive. This was not one of those experiences, I am pleased to report! If you are looking for something similar, you are in luck.

  1. Hi there! Love these looks. What size of the 3 juju hats is this? The link takes you to the Etsy page and they offer a few different dimensions. Thank you!!

    • It looks like he has changed his dimensions a little bit! At least since I purchased. Mine are 24 through 27!
      Hope that helps 🙂

  2. How tall is the mattress you used for this daybed? Can’t decide if 10 inches tall would be too much
