Our Guest Bath: Patterned Tile & Mixed Metals

One piece of advice I learned with this bathroom: if you are using gray in a room, you need other warm colors to liven it up. Otherwise all that gray falls flat, and instead of looking neutral but alive, it comes across cold. Sterile.

Our guest bath that sits just off the playroom is done in grays- gray floor tile that I fell in love with, a gray vanity, and silver (chrome) in some of the hardware. If we didn’t have this brass in here it would be a (nicely tiled) jail cell! Okay maybe that is extreme. I did mix the metals for more interest. I have big plans for the walls (they are screaing for tile!)…. but for now, I am living in the present.

Although we call it the guest bathroom (we host our overnight guests stay in the adjacent playroom) it really is used mostly by our kids. That means accessories needed to be kept simple, and it also means I have to come in here now and then just to make sure the kids are flushing. Anyways, you didn’t come here for that. Enjoy a peek of our guest bath… on a day nobody peed on the seat! :)
