A Modern + Playful Boys Room
Annnnd I have a new favorite room in my house! Too bad it's not my own room... and too bad the 4 year old owner of the room just smiled and shrugged when he saw the transformation. But, Leo has been pretty vocal about his indifference the whole time. Boys.
Here is the inspiration board I came up with... I stuck to most of my original ideas. One thing I knew I wanted from the get-go was fun and on trend wallpaper that would add interest to the room, while still keeping it light and bright.
I found this bright colorful wallpaper from Anewall! I decided on their self adhesive vinyl option - a peel and stick application - I didn't want to ruin the wall underneath knowing it's coming down in a few years. They did tell me if kept in good condition the wallpaper should last about 5 years! Surely the cactus trend will have died by then! 😆
Installing the wallpaper was pretty straightforward. Jose watched the kids so I could work alone.... it took me about 2 hours. What I liked about it is that in the beginning, when I was still getting the hang of it, I could quickly lift it back up and redo a piece if I needed to.
Watch me apply a roll on this sped up video:
It really was that easy!
These blocks from Bannor Toys remind me of my childhood!
I put a ZZ plant in both boys' rooms after I discovered how easy they are to take care of. I ignore them for weeks at a time, and they still look just like this. They don't mind shade and if you forget to water them, they will perk right back up once you remember!
I was going back and forth on finding a large piece of art Leo would enjoy as he grows older when I stumbled upon this vintage flag from Chairish. I didn't want to pay full price, but they have an option to offer bids, so I made one. The owner of the flag sent me a counter offer moments later, and we had a deal! This international flag sign's original purpose was to designate safety zones. But.... I just like it because it looks cool and and has green, so whatever!
I love the view of Leo's room now from the boys' jack n jill style bathroom!
